Live Earth

What a series of concerts to raise awareness about the very real impending disaster problem of global warming.

Yup, my mum's performing too. Damien Rice, Jack Johnson, John Legend and Linkin Park too :).

And here's what China's been up to lately.

Parades

BMT wasnt easy (the rehearsal I mean). Monday was hell cause it was combined rehearsal and as such band was down for about 4 rounds with School 1 and about 6 rounds with school 2. Madness. Rounds meaning going through the actual sequence. Why so? Cause each school split their cohort into 2 parades, effectively creating 4 parades in total. So while the recruits take thier rest when the other parade of the school is rehearsing, band was down on the parade square all the time.

So bad that when we were sitting on the side of the road waiting for the next round, I overheard recruit A telling recruit B "why they look so shag". Yup, a cornet nearly flew.

Yeap, i felt my beret start to turn a shade of red after Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday was a breeze though, since we are the King of the Parade Square. The parades were short and kind of simple, but people still faint, which is a surprise to see. Just to disappoint those who think that the speech was specially written for your parade, think again. I heard it a total of 4 times.

Saw: Arvin, Weldon, Sheng Li, Jaryl, Yu Xuan, Raymond and a few other TJ recruits.

Following that series of BMT parades came the first combined rehearsal for SAF Day. It was during then that my beret turned more purplish. The red under the blue is starting to show (commando bandsman!!). The parade was long, draggy and too ceremonial. 18 songs by the band, that's a rarity. Surviving that makes me think that all other parades are like specks of dust on the fingers. Except BMT Monday. Sigh, SAF Day, 1st JULY!! Sigh.

So was yesterday's rehearsal.

At SAFTI, saw: Prabhu (Thursday). The Sierra Wing people: Raimi, You Jun, Chuck (Tuesday).

Been playing the guitar, and can now play about 10 songs with relative ease. Fast huh :)

POP 2

Band A's been busy, with Sunday burnt. We got out rest days back though, with a nice long weekend that started Wednesday afternoon.

Supposed to be down for OCS commissioning parade, but Central Band took over our part of support and now we are instead down for BMT POP. So to the many recruits in there (like, Arvin, Kaifong etc etc), I'll be back to Tekong!

The batch is so big this time around that both School 1 and School 2 had to split their parades into 2. Resulting in a full day rehearsal on Monday (6am to 8pm for band), and 2 parades each on Tuesday and Wednesday. Funky huh.

Just a little regarding my beliefs. I know it isnt the most convenient/conventional in Singapore, being food paradise and all, but I stand for it even if I stand alone. Guess I'm turning extremist due to other's inability to accept. Pity the ignorance of people sometimes. Since truth comes in 3 stages, I reckon it the best to let them find out for themselves (and please watch "Earthlings", it will change your mind about your diet).

You suckers sucker, go check out Mac Danzig for yourselves. He's the one that I'm looking up to now. Thom Yorke's with me too. And so are they. So, grow up a little, and stop telling me that I'm going to spoil your meal.

So, go watch Earthlings either here or here.
