The Perspective of a King [late by a week!]

Orientation, the crazy and fun-filled first week of Junior College.

Voyage

1 King and 4 sons. The King cannot decide which son is to succeed him, since all 4 of his sons are rather dysfunctional. The King thus hands them a quest, which is to set off to the four islands surrounding T.J., and the one who finds the treasure gets the throne.

King, however, dies in a volcano eruption and the 4 sons, too engrossed in each of their own world, forgets about the quest. Many years later, they have already set up their own empire in each of the islands, namely Zenith, Azurous, Invictus and Ixodus.

The descendants of the 4 had the same nightmare one night, which was of the Ancient King returning to remind them of the quest that he gave their ancestors many years ago. As each sets off to continue the quest from where their forefathers left off, they found the treasure through their strange and dysfunctional trait significant of their clan.

Zenith the "Fatigued" King Benjamin Jr.
Azurous the "Young" King Arvin Jr.
Invictus the "Narcissist" King Chun Kiat Jr.
Ixodus the "Party Animal" King Raimi Jr.

As such, the 4 who have never seen each other before bumped into each other, and a fight ensured. Each of them tried to get the treasure for his own clan, but failed. The magical key to open the treasure chest that was handed down by the Ancient King to each of their ancestor many years ago failed to work.

Miracles do happen, and when all 4 of them use their keys together, the chest opened, and the treasure is the lesson learnt that they can succeed when they are united as one.

Day 1. 3rd January 2006

College Trivia

By giving the CGs their own time to go for College Trivia without their OGLs, I felt that bonds were quickly created and people stepped up to lead the group, which is very good! Also, Day 1's mass dance was the most "hiong" since Dhoom is quite a tough dance. Really very tired at the end of the day.

Day 2. 4th January 2006

Monopoly

I became station master, but judging from the many photos that they took during Monopoly, I am sure that they have had lots of fun. Mass dance was after this, and "Let's Get Retarded" proved a little hard to cram.

Day 3. 5th January 2006

Wet Games
Suntec Mass Dance

Wet Games was good! Their spirit and enthusiasm peaked as each and every one of them unleashed their savage side and try to wet everyone they see. Seniors or peers, enemies or allies, just have fun by getting others wet and getting wet themselves. Wet and dirty proved to still be one the of the better ways of bonding.

Suntec Mass Dance was high. Sky high. From wet games, Invictors set off to lunch and got changed. At Blk 19, they prepared for their OG performance for O-Night and also practiced those steps for the all-anticipated Suntec Mass Dance. Everyone improved tremendously [I am proud of you all].

Then at Suntec, all of us got wet from the spray from the fountain. After the mass dance, people started running aorund the fountain in circles, and created sound pollution and congestion. Cheering was madness and destructive, as I realised that I have lost my voice after the entire event is over. This is bad, for I still have 1 entire day to go.

Day 4. 6th January 2006

Auditions
Voyagers' Night

Morning saw me losing my voice on the podium going "Baris-phlegm jam-....."

It's alright and understandable if anyone laughed [I personally found it funny too].

Then came a morning of practicing, Library Talk and then the auditions.

Though it is bad that only 1 OG from each clan would be enter Voyagers' Night, I saw how all of them had so much fun laughing at each other, practicing dance, lines, putting on makeup and 3 disguises and all the corny and funny things that we expect or dont expect to see.

Like how "That Thing You Do" rocked Flammende
how The Cinderella from Calidus literally sagging
how the entire series of short performances from Facultas just sticked in one's funny bone
and how the Girl on the Bus turned into a Bhangra movie.

Voyagers' Night

The number of pageant nominees were lesser than Renaissance, 4 pairs only as compared to Renaissance's 6 pairs. They were all good in their own ways [but of course Stephanie and Wan Ting are the best]. OG performances were quite "numanumalei-ish" as both Zenith and Azurous's performance representative used that song. Invictus's was plagued by bad microphone feedback, but it was still a superb performance with David the Magician and Chef, Jeremy's Steve Owens shark show, the ultimate hilarous soap opera, the boys with their nails in the Pantene advertisement and the MTV with the shake like mad dance. Woah!

After everything has ended, the 4 of us acted a little and then in the end, Calidus of Invictus was crowned Best OG!!! and best clan was Zenith [1! We are the Zenith! 2! We still cant hear you! 3! A little louder! 4! More! More! More!].

Charles kicked off the performance with a blast of a performance that was just in a league of his own. Then came Ink [go Chuang May!] which ended with a nice song from Charles and Ink.

Ronin surprised me even when they started the moshing with classic "Helter-Skelter"! Wow! I prefer the Beatles's version still. They continued with a few more classic rock tunes which got everyone all high!!!

The bands that played were like all really good, and the stage and lighting effects just added to the blast. During mass dance, the hall really looked like a club at one point from the stage's POV.

Tired tired tired, but Orientation was sure a blast and miracle that the 29th Students' Council and the OGLs have created that I am sure many people will remember for a long long time.
