Summing It All Up
Recently, I came to realisations that my past few entries are of the lowest standards the blogosphere is ever going to witness. Complaints, whines, apologies, quiz(?) but nothing about my silly little life. Nothing at all! As such, at the end of the long National Day weekend, I have a bit of patching up to do.

Surveying
Getting people to do surveys for you is never fun. Thinking from the general public's perspective, it is easy to understand why.
Amelia and I stationed ourselves in front of NTUC FairPrice [Marine Parade] on a nice Sunday afternoon [07/08/05] to try to collect 100 opinions of the public regarding our project [to replace the giving out of plastic bags by raising the general public usage of reusable shopping bags.
Most people turned me away, with reasons like "in a rush", "not interested" or just a mere wave of the hand. I don't blame them since my project's success or failure would not matter them and would not even affect them in anyway. Look, MOE implements PW in JCs but of all the hard work and research, proposals and reports, none of these projects actually would catch the light of day and really be implemented.
Oh well. After spending about 1 and abit more of the hour, Amelia and I gathered a total of 27 completed survey forms! that is, a rough average of 0.18 survey form per man-minute.
Going out to do surveys is hard!
Celebrations At Tampines
Went to the National Day Celebrations event at Tampines after that to meet my sec 4 friends and support Yumin. She got into the finals of the National Song Composition Competition and she sings the song her cousin composed. Cool! I wondered how could I have missed a event like this. Anyway, it would have been perfect if I actually had the right sense of mind to go home and change out of full school uniform instead of heading straight to the event after PW survey at NTUC. Imagine how odd I was feeling being the only person there on a Sunday in full school uniform while evryone else was dressed in civilian. Odd it was, but still bearable though.
Congrats Yumin for getting Merit for the judging that day!

The National Day Celebrations in College
I don't wish to harp too much on it but if you are unhappy with the concert in anyway do tell me so that I can improve (but I don't think there would be a second time for me right? haha)!
Silly Me
I took 14 intending to go to Suntec City before going to check out my bike at my cousin's house in Bukit Merah but Fate played a trick on me and made me sleep on the bus. In the end, I did not make it to Suntec nor my cousin's house, but instead woke up to the sights of ACS(I) and then Singapore Polytechnic. Just incase you don't know yet, Clementi is 1 MRT stop away from Jurong East. Well, at least I know where ACS(I) is now.
Waking up slightly late already (1:15 pm), I realised that it was rather impossible to make my way back home and meet the rest of my House Committee members at 2:30 pm [I took 1 hour and 20 minutes plus to reach Clementi]. In the end meeting time was changed to 4pm.
Gamma House Committee BBQ
I hereby declare 8th August Gamma House Committee Day.
Well it's a day when everyone is free [or nearly free] and hence by commemerating this day as Gamma HC day, any future HC BBQ would be held on this day. Good attendance can then be expected since those in NS are 'released' in view of National Day holiday [correct me if I'm wrong].
It was so much fun!
The seniors are really nice people to talk to [and I mean really senior seniors from the 7th HC (we are the 13th)]. Oi Lam [10th Captain], Yi Jie [11th Captain] and Izzat [12th Captain] are such a blast to be around. Also, I was rather surprised to see Joanne, my Chung Cheng band senior at the BBQ [did not know she was in HC before the BBQ].
At the BBQ, captain-secretary bad blood was discovered to be tradition. Captain is supposed to bully the secretary and the secretary is supposed to bash up the captain. Imagine if both are male [sounds weird!].
Looking forward to next year's BBQ!

Apologies!
I "set free" Samantha by waking up late and not meeting her at 6:45 am at Yio Chu Kang MRT station for the Music Ministry picnic cum jamming session. Wished I could have helped her at the event though [smile!].
Maple Syrup
Spent the rest of National Day playing Maple Story [I did some work prior to that!]. Training up my resilience to defend the country[Maple Story really does trains one's patience and resilience! Try it here!]
National Day Parade
Was rather disappointed that they did not show the dance accompanying this year's theme song "Reach Out For The Skies" [click here]. The song is really considered overplayed, dominating 95% of National Day publicity airtime and defeating titans like "Home", "Where I Belong", "We Will Get There" and the rest of the gang [I seriously believe that they were never shown at all on any of Mediacorp's channels].
I loved the showcase of all the army tanks, machinery, police cars, firefighting trucks etc.
Happy National Day

Mizuno to New Balance
With NAPFA arriving like an impending storm, I decided to get a pair of proper running shoes to avoid having to run anymore in my white sneakers that are already showing balck streaks from kicking Zhao Xiu.
Made a trip down to Orchard in my no-company gear [anyhow wear since no one with me, this time being my sec 2 OAC leader shirt (!) and TJ pe shorts (!!)]. After browsing through a few stores, finally end up at Royal Sporting House Paragon. I never thought that I would actually buy shoes from RSH since they carried really weird brands such as Elle Active (?!) and Gola(!). So I stepped in, took the one shoe that i have been eyeing for awhile and asked the person, "Are these shoes for running?"
"Yup, of course! *glances at my feet* But you cannot wear Adidas because generally their shoes are very narrow in the front and your feet are broad. Come, I introduce to my colleague who will introduce you to Mizuno, whose shoes are generally broader."
Mizuno? Again?
"Can I try this?"
"How much would this be after discount?"
"Does this come in any other colour?"
"Can I try this?"
"Does this come in any other colour?"
...
If the salesgirl was a little more irritable she would have flipped and stuffed the shoes up my mouth. I felt that I was being irritating and the thoughts of escaping RSH after my trying on my third pair of shoes. Guilt got the better of me though, and in the end I got a reasonably good looking pair of New Balance, with extreme comfort for a rather affordable price [my other option was a pair of Mizunos that have a sole that ws entirely orange. Yes, the thick part of the sole as well.]
That quite sums up everything [I suddenly feel a craving for ban mian].
Later!

"BREAKING NEWS"
===============
-Energy and Asset Technology, Inc. (EGTY) owns a global license to market
the genetically enhanced Global Cedar growth trees, with plans to
REVOLUTIONIZE the forest-timber industry.
These newly enhanced Global Cedar trees require only 9-12 years of growth before they can
be harvested for lumber, whereas worldwide growth time for lumber is 30-50 years.
Other than growing at an astonishing rate, the Global Cedar has a number of other benefits.
Its natural elements make it resistant to termites, and the lack of oils and sap found in the wood
make it resistant to forest fire, ensuring higher returns on investments.
The wood is very lightweight and strong, lighter than Poplar and over twice
as strong as Balsa, which makes it great for construction. It also has
the unique ability to regrow itself from the stump, minimizing the land and
time to replant and develop new root systems.
Based on current resources and agreements, EGTY projects revenues of $140 Million
with an approximate profit margin of 40% for each 9-year cycle. With anticipated
growth, EGTY is expected to challenge Deltic Timber Corp. during its initial 9-year cycle.
Deltic Timber Corp. currently trades at over $38.00 a share with about $153 Million in revenues.
As the reputation and demand for the Global Cedar tree continues to grow around the world
EGTY believes additional multi-million dollar agreements will be forthcoming. The Global Cedar nursery has produced
about 100,000 infant plants and is developing a production growth target of 250,000 infant plants per month.
Energy and Asset Technology is currently in negotiations with land and business owners in New Zealand,
Greece and Malaysia regarding the purchase of their popular and profitable fast growing infant tree plants.
Inquiries from the governments of Brazil and Ecuador are also being evaluated.
Conclusion:
The examples above show the Awesome, Earning Potential of little
